The Rethink.......

Hi and welcome.

Upon reflection, I have come to realize that the Blog name 'The Yellow Blog Road' is far more appropriate to discussions about Blogging rather than Reiki. Therefore I feel it is in the best interest of the blog that this is the direction that it should follow. So in future The Yellow Blog Road will be focused along those lines and another Blog 'Mysterious Forces’ will be initiated that will be aimed  at the subject of Reiki and other similar alternative options and discussion areas.

One thing that is clear, well sort of, there are many types of Bloggs but in my mind they seem to fall into three main streams:

    * Information 'A', which  consists of various NEWS outlets
    * Information 'B' the likes of which include all the different topics that cover virtually any known subject.
    * Sales; People having a business or product they are trying to promote.

The interesting thing is, there is not a lot of difference in the basic goals getting read, getting a following and building a sustainable Blog. So, there is also not a lot of difference in the basic requirements needed to be put in place to achieve a degree of success when wanting to promote these blogs.

However there are all sorts of variations because of what is available for the blog that is being supplied by particular blogging providers. The range of page designs and the array of plug-ins etc. that are available, vary greatly.

Apart from that, there are similarities that we can focus on that will give us ample opportunities to uncover ways of promoting and therefore expanding our particular Blogs. Later we will incorporate into the equasion specific plug-ins that are available.

GETTING NOTICED

As I write this there are already millions of blogs on line  and there is no sign of the growth rate slowing. So what do we need to do to get noticed?

In a nutshell, we need to do EVERYTHING, and then we need to do it to the best of our ability leaving no stone unturned as we tap people on the shoulder and invite them to partake of our little gems.

Obviously we need our writings to be 'Little Gems' otherwise we will not hold a soul. So 'originality, specialty, different and better' are the standards that we need to strive for EVERY TIME we work on our 'little gem'. For the starter blogger that could mean SEVERAL DAYS WRITING our blog, followed by a break away from it and I'd recommend 3 to 4 days for that break, then come back and discover all your imperfections, mistakes and missing bits and I'll guarantee there will be quite a few.

Don't forget your grammar and spelling need to be perfect. Nothing turns people away like mistakes here. People don't have faith in writers who can't get the fundamentals right.

Ideally, getting someone else to do your proof reading is the preferred way, but not always practical. This is why you need to walk away from your work for a while so that when you come back to it again, it is fresh to your mind and this gives you a feeling of detachment that will allow you to recognise more errors in your work, and correct them.

Once you have been at it a while (and you'll know when the time is right) your confidence and ability to edit as you write, will allow you to re-evaluate the process needed.

Remember there is always opportunities to comment about this blog and I would appreciate any offer of assistance.

But for now I wish you more power to you writing.

Bruce
